10 Govt. schools record cent per cent results

PERAMBALUR: Perambalur district, has registered 81 per cent pass in the SSLC examination, with 11,363 students out of a total 14,080 candidates, coming out successful.

Of the 7,339 boys appeared, 5,979 passed the examination and out of 6,741 girls, 5,384 came out successful recording 81.4 per cent and 79.8 per cent results.

In all, 22 high/higher secondary schools -- ten Government schools, five aided schools, seven self-financing schools secured cent per cent pass percentage.

The Chief Educational Officer, K. Sasikala, told presspersons here today that the Government high and higher secondary schools at Venbavur, Anukkur, Ambapur, Kamarasavalli, Kuvagam, Periyakurichi, Kodukkur, Venmaankondan, Koovathur and Marudhur managed cent per cent results.

Among the Aided Schools, Thanthai Roever HSS, Indira Nagar, Nirmala Girls' HSS and St. Mary's High School both in Ariyalur, Kaliyuga Varadarajaperumal Girls HSS in Kallankurichi, St. Ignacy High School in Kulamanickam, secured cent per cent pass percentage.

The Sarada Devi Girls HSS in Perambalur, Ragavendra HSS in Arumbavur, Thanthai Roever High School in V.R.S. Puram and the Thanthai Roever HSS, Nergunam are the self-financing schools which registered cent per cent pass percentage, she said.

A total of 11 matriculation higher secondary schools registered cent per cent pass percentage, Mrs. Sasikala added.

She said the pass percentage was up by 8 per cent over last year's results. Among the Government schools, the pass percentage has gone up from 67 last year to 77 this year.

P. Jayanthi of Fathima Girls' Higher Secondary School in Jayamkondam, who got 480, stood first in the district. The second position was shared by R. Karthikeyan from the Government Higher Secondary School in Sendurai near Udayarpalayam and A. Vennila of Sirumalar Higher Secondary School in Annamangalam near Perambalur. They got 478 marks each. The district third rank went to T. Ragupathy of Government High School, Venbavur, who secured 477 marks.
