Cases being registered against employers

ERODE: The officials of the Labour Welfare Department rescued ten child labourers during raids on various institutions.

The children were admitted in the special schools of the National Child Labour Programme.

Cases are being registered against the employers.

Intensive raids

In December, the officials conducted intensive raids on shops and other business establishments.

As many as 48 cases were registered against shop owners who failed to maintain registers under the Shops and Establishment Act.

Forty cases were registered against shop owners who run the shops on holidays and 83 against institutions for failing to renew and seal weights and measures.

One case was registered against an LPG dealer for supplying a cylinder that was under-weight.

Shops inspected

The officials who also inspected a number of fair price shops, detected a few irregularities. The salesmen of these shops were fined.
