‘Mammo Run’ held to create awareness of breast cancer

A ‘Mammo Run’ to create awareness of breast cancer among the public was organised by the Dr. K. Shantha Breast Cancer Foundation here on Sunday.

The event featured a half marathon for 21.1 kilometres, a competitive segment, and a 5 kilometre non-competitive run at different places in the city.

The half marathon was meant for participants above 16 years, while the 5 kilometre run was meant for those above 14 years.

In all 2,500 persons took part in the half-marathon and 5 kilometre run, said Dr. K. Govindaraj, managing trustee, Dr. K. Shantha Breast Cancer Foundation.

The half marathon run was from the G. Viswanathan Hospitals Mambazhasalai to K.A. P. Viswanathan School.

The 5 km non-competitive run started from E.R. Higher Secondary School and culminated at K.A.P. Viswanathan School.

Later, prizes were given to the winners in both events by Commissioner of Police M.N. Manjunatha.
