TTD resolves to make Tirumala green

Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) executive officer Anil kumar Singhal on Wednesday said the management had resolved to plant saplings across public and open spaces in the temple town.

As a first step, the State Urban Cleaning and Beautification Corporation submitted its final plan last week after a five-month-long survey of the town to plant saplings of aromatic and flowering variety. The drive would enhance the spiritual ambience of the town besides beautifying the environment, he said.

The project, conceived by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, would be completed in six months, and plans were afoot to replicate it at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta in Kadapa and the Sri Venkateswara temple at Kurushektra in Haryana, said Mr. Singhal.

Mr. Singhal inspected 10,000 saplings planted in coordination with the forest department on the Alipiri footpath.

Once the saplings, watered with treated sewage water, reached a certain height, another drive would take place on the Srivari Mettu footpath, which led to Srinivasa Mangapuram.
