Maoists used a tree to block Baliguda-Kantamala road near Sudra village near Baliguda in Kandhamal district of Odisha on Wednesday morning.

Handwritten posters in the name of Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh division of the outlawed CPI(Maoist) organisation were found at the spot. The Maoists have called for a 24-hour bandh call in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh and Nayagarh districts on Thursday in protest against killing of five Maoists on May 13. The police later said that with the removal of the tree, the road was cleared for regular traffic. Security and patrolling have been enhanced.
