Man ‘kills’ uncle over property dispute

A 60-year-old man was allegedly killed by his nephew, who is absconding, over a property dispute near Chennamaplli village in Dhone Mandal on Wednesday, said the police.

For two months, the brother of the deceased, E. Sekhar Reddy, a farmer and restaurant owner in Anantapur, had been reportedly pressing him to return a house he had purchased from him three years ago, said Dhone DSP Khader Basha. “Sekhar demanded the return of the money paid for the house in order to hand it over to his brother. When the brother failed to return the money, Mr. Sekhar refused to vacate the house,” Mr. Basha said.

Manohar Reddy, Sekhar’s nephew, reportedly scuffled with him 20 days ago.

A case has been registered and the body of the deceased has been returned to the family after post-mortem. Sekhar is survived by wife, son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
