KRBF music extravaganza in Kasauli opens today

The fifth edition of ‘Kasuali Rhythm and Blues Music Festival’ (KRBF) is gearing up to bring together a blend of music from independent to Bollywood, rock, beginning in Kasauli on Friday.

The festival will feature performances from well-known bands and musicians from across the country and proceeds of the event, say organisers, will go to support the treatment of underprivileged children suffering from cancer, cardiac disorders and thalassemia.

Three-day event

The three-day extravaganza is being hosted at the Baikunth Resorts in the village of Chabbal, in the cantonment town of Kasauli, in Himachal Pradesh which has been hosting previous editions of the event and also is the venue of a literature festival.

With the likes of bands such as the Indian Ocean, Indus Creed and the Raghu Dixit Project having performed in previous editions, this year’s line-up relies on the international act, Massive Vibe along with Indian tabla maestros, Ustaad Fazal Qureshi & Ravi Iyer to create a rather distinct musical vibe.

The veterans will be joining forces with Mumbai-based blues act, Kanchan Daniel and The Beards and Mihir Joshi band.

Delhi’s rock band Frisky Pints will be the one to kick start the festival with the opening performance.

Bollywood singer Shilpa Rao and music composer Leslie Lewis will perform on day one and day two respectively.

Kanchan Daniel (25), who is a cancer survivor herself will be fronting her blues band, ‘Kanchan Daniel and the Beards’ The band’s performance comes with the anticipation of their debut album release scheduled for this month.

“We are really excited to be playing at the Kasauli RnB festival. Its our first time playing in the hills. It’s going to be surreal, with the music echoing through the pine trees and the mountains. This one is going to be a show to remember,” Ms. Daniel said.

The event is being organised by the Genesis Foundation. — PTI
