Centre to market products made by women groups

JAIPUR: The Union Minister of State for Finance, Pawan Kumar Bansal, has said the Centre will take steps for marketing of products made by women's self-help groups (SHGs) to help them get remunerative prices. He said the SHGs had strengthened women's empowerment and brought about revolutionary changes in their standard of living.

Loans disbursed

Disbursing loans to SHGs at a function organised by the Bank of Baroda at Silora Panchayat Samiti headquarters in Ajmer district of Rajasthan over the weekend, Mr. Bansal said women should make proper utilisation of loans and improve their financial status. He pointed out that as many as 23 lakh women's SHGs were presently functioning across the country.

Mr. Bansal disbursed loans worth Rs. 82.18 lakhs to 108 SHGs on the occasion. He praised the initiative of the Bank of Baroda to provide vocational training to 221 women of the Panchayat Samiti to make them self-reliant.

The Minister saw the products made by the SHGs at the stalls put up by Bank of Baroda's Swarozgar Sansthan and enquired about their variety and utility.
