CPI meet lists grievances of the residents belonging to Ariankuppam

Puducherry: The one-day conference of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in Ariankuppam here called upon the administration to post more sanitary workers in the panchayat for clearing garbage and better upkeep of drainage. The secretary of the party's Ariankuppam unit, R. Boopathy, said in a release on Monday that the conference held on Sunday adopted resolutions urging the administration to ensure that the commune panchayat were granted financial powers and authority to provide basic amenities.

With the increase in number of women employees, who were commuting from Ariankuppam commune panchayat, the administration should introduce town buses exclusively for women.

The conference also wanted a community hall in Nonankuppam, and the primary health centre should be converted into a community health centre so that augmented health care facilities would be available to the residents.

The municipal market complex should be constructed expeditiously so that the current congestion faced by the traders and merchants could be reduced.

The Ariankuppam port project should be expedited and the local youths should be offered jobs in it. The conference also wanted a coordinated working of the chairman of the commune panchayat and the local legislator so that there would be speedy implementation of welfare schemes. Among those, who addressed the conference, included the secretary, Puducherry unit of the CPI, N. Kalainathan, legislator R. Viswanathan and deputy secretaries of the party T. Geethanathan and A. Ramamoorthy.
