Inaugurates one-day orientation course in legal literacy

Puducherry: District Judge and Member Secretary of the Legal Services Authority of Puducherry D. Ramabathiran called upon the youth to develop self-confidence as well as positive attitude to successfully face challenges in life.

Inaugurating a one-day orientation course in legal literacy organised by Puducherry unit of the National Service Scheme (NSS) for its volunteers here on Saturday, Mr. Rambathiran said that the youth were the future and hope of the nation and they should channellise their energy and attention on the right path and positive ventures.

Stating that organisations such as NSS was providing them an ideal platform to tap their innate talents and powers to rise to any exigency, the District Judge said that law was a way of life and the spirit of law was to promote the well-being of the people. He said valour as well discretion was desirable.

He referred to the functioning of the Legal Services Authority, which encouraged compromise among the contesting parties so that peace could prevail in society.

State Liaison Officer of NSS E. M. Rajan, who presided, said the NSS had been holding several programmes to promote the skills of the youth and to make them self-reliant. ew initiatives would also be promoted if there was feed back to the organisation.

Programme Coordinators of the NSS V. Sundaramoorthy and P. Kolandasamy, advocates Rasheed, D. Jeevanantham and R. Usha also spoke.

Technical sessions were held to bring to focus various features of legal literacy programme.
