SHIMLA: The Indian Institute of Advance Study here is organising a two-day national workshop on “Cultures of governance and conflict resolution” beginning Friday.

The workshop has been convened by the European Commission Directorate-General for Research in cooperation with the EU Delegation in New Delhi, Trans-cultural International Institute, Paris, and the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla.

The objective of the workshop is to discuss research conducted in Europe and India on issues of common interest and high policy relevance such as governance, democracy and conflict resolution where mutual learning can enhance current and future analytical work. It will also address how Europe and India have developed their cultures of governance and how they view each other.

It will also explore how mutual perceptions have been shaped, and the implications of these processes for Euro-Indian relations and for their reciprocal roles in the global context.

The workshop is being attended by nearly 25 national and international scholars, according to a spokesman of the Institute.
