Wheat procured

JAIPUR: A total of 5.61 lakh tonnes of wheat has been procured from farmers on the minimum support price in Rajasthan so far this year. The procurement is likely to cross 10 lakh tonnes in view of good arrivals of the foodgrain during the current season.

State Principal Food and Civil Supplies Secretary O. P. Meena reviewed the progress of wheat procurement in various districts at a meeting here on Thursday. He asked the procurement agencies to make payments to the farmers within three days of obtaining the supplies.

Mr. Meena said the wheat brought to mandis after the purchase through MSP should be lifted speedily and the sacks supplied to all mandis in accordance with the demand.

The meeting was informed that the Food Corporation of India had so far procured 5.05 lakh tonnes of wheat, Tilam Sangh 54,464 tonnes and the RAJFED 766 tonnes.
