Vigilance probe ordered

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Government on Friday announced a vigilance probe into alleged irregularities in the Rs.60-crore project for construction of buildings in Chatra district.

“The government is handing the case over to the Vigilance Bureau,” Deputy Chief Minister Raghuvar Das told the State Assembly. The announcement came after RJD's Chatra MLA Janardan Paswan brought up the issue during Zero Hour, charging top district officials with irregularities worth Rs.27.30 crore out of the sanctioned Rs.60 crore allocated for the construction of buildings to house health and educational institutes. Stating that an FIR had been lodged in this regard against some engineers, Mr. Paswan demanded action against the sanctioning authorities. -- PTI
