Uttarakhand Govt. cuts price of LPG cylinder

DEHRA DUN: The Uttarakhand Government on Tuesday slashed the increase in the price of cooking gas cylinders by Rs.12.48 by waiving the 4 per cent sales tax with immediate effect.

“Offload burden”

Announcing this after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister B. C. Khanduri said the step had been taken to offload part of the burden thrust on the masses by the recent steep hike in fuel prices by the Centre.

The Chief Minister also announced a reduction of 50 paise per litre of petrol and diesel.

Deploring the steep hike at a time when the nation was reeling under heavy inflation, Mr. Khanduri hoped the Centre would roll back the fuel prices by taking some practical steps to cut down wasteful expenditure.
