School students rally for pulse polio immunisation drive

3000 children join march organised by Directorate of School Education

PUDUCHERRY: Students from various schools in Puducherry took out a rally on Saturday to create awareness of pulse polio immunisation.

The rally, organised by the Directorate of School Education, started at the Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Centenary Educational Complex and covered areas including Nellithope, Periyar statue, Rajiv Gandhi square and ended near the complex. Director of School Education S. Sundaravadivelu flagged off the rally.


Mr. Sundaravadivelu said that the rally was held to spread awareness of pulse polio immunisation. “As many as 3,000 students from 25 government and private schools took part,” he said.

The students carried placards with messages such as “Give polio drops, give healthy life,” “Year 2020: What! Polio? What is that?” “Eradicate polio and save human resources,” “Bye, Bye Mr. Polio,” “Save tomorrow’s generation” and “No more polio, no more sufferings” during the rally.

Joint Director of School Education R. Vanjulavalli was present.
