BHUBANESWAR: New Delhi-based Odissi dancer Geeta Mahalik has been nominated for the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA) award for this year.

Disciple of late Guru Deba Prasad Das and Guru Mayadhar Raut, Mahalik has performed extensively in India and abroad. She has been an ICCR empanelled artiste. Recipient of the senior national fellowship from Ministry of Culture, she has also been in the expert committee of the Ministry of Culture for Odissi dance.

The other SNA awardees include Ananda Shankar Jayant (Bharata Natyam), Prerna Shrimali (Kathak), Kalamandalam Rajan (Kathakali), L.Bino Devi (Manipuri), Vyjayanthi Kashi (Kuchipudi), Daksha Seth (Experimental dance), Kala Krishna (Andhra Natyam) and dance critic for The Hindu Leela Venkataraman for overall contribution to arts.
