Promoting female literacy

JAIPUR: A State-level committee appointed in Rajasthan for literacy promotion has underlined the need for evolving coordination among various departments for stopping the drop out of children from schools and achieving the female literacy rate of 65 % by 2011. The committee’s first meeting, organised at the State Secretariat here over the weekend, was presided over by Additional Chief Secretary (Women and Child Development) Alka Kala. The meeting took up the issues of enrolment of children, specially girls, in primary schools and ensuring their stay.
