Now vending zones in Cuttack

CUTTACK: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is currently working overnight to ensure that at least four vending zones are opened in the city by the end of February this year to ease the city roads from unorganised roadside shops and kiosks. Besides, 14 more vending zones would also come up in the city as soon as groundwork for the same is over.

“The proposed vending zones in the city would be in place as soon as the identified land for the same are transferred to the civic body”, informed the Orissa Khudra O Utha Dokan Mahasangha chief and CPI (M) leader Subash Singh quoting the Mayor.

The Mayor has promised that the civic body would work sincerely to have the vending zones in the city soon. The first few vending zones would be opened by next month, Singh said. It may be noted here that the CMC had last year submitted a proposal to the Assembly House Committee for having 18 vending zones in the city. The vending zones in the city would come up at Matamath, Jagatpur, Chhatra Bazar, Matrubhawan, Ranihat, Jobra, College Chhak, Bidanasi, Nuapatna, OMP Chhak, Madhupatna, Biju Patnaik Chhak, Sati Choura, CDA Sector-6, Bajrakabati, Nua bazaar and Pota Pokahri.
