Students who got more than 75% marks were given prizes

PUDUCHERRY: Fisheries Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan on Tuesday handed over cash prizes to students belonging to Lawspet constituency and who secured more than 75 per cent in the Class XII, SSLC and Matriculation public examinations.

He gave away a cash prize of Rs. 3,000 each to five students who secured above 75 per cent in SSLC and Matriculation examinations. Five students who passed out of Plus Two with 75 per cent received Rs. 5,000 each. A total of Rs. 6.84 lakh would be given under the scheme.

The Minister also gave away a cheque for Rs. 50,000, under the accident insurance scheme being implemented along with the Central government, for the family of a fisherman who died in an accident. Director of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare department G. Ramalakshmi was present on the occasion, said a press release.
