BHUBANESWAR: One of the three villagers who was abducted by a group of armed Maoists in Sambalpur district early on Thursday has been killed. The body of the victim, Arjun Dehuri, a grocery shop owner, was recovered by the police from the forests near Talab village on Saturday.
The Maoists abducted Dehuri at gunpoint despite the existence of a police camp near his village under the Kisinda police station. The extremists suspected Dehuri to be a police informer.
Two other persons -- Dutiya Naik and Anti Pradhan -- who were abducted by the Maoists from Kechbil village, were released. The villagers now demand that the authorities shift the Orissa State Armed Police camp from the locality.
