Range of exhibits on display at Jawaharlal Nehru national exhibition

PUDUCHERRY: The granddaddy of all exhibitions is here — the 34th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition is on at the Uppalam stadium on December 26th and 27th.

The expo is closed to visitors on Christmas Day, as the children would be off on an educational tour to places such as Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Bharathi Park, Auroville and Botanical Garden.

The Education Department has extended the timing of the exhibition till 6.30 p.m., to encourage children and adults alike to visit. The 6,000 feet long banner, painted by children, makes for colourful cover over the 55 stalls, each containing four exhibits.

The exhibition boasts of some innovative exhibits, including a multi-purpose helmet created by Yash Kumar of S.D. Public School, New Delhi. Students have gone into a range of topics — the use of cinnamon oil in fighting gum and mouth microbes, use of electronic circuits in solving problems of grain storage, a manual water pumping set and a whole lot more.
