BHUBANESWAR: City-based Orissa Modern Art Gallery in collaboration with the Orissa Samskruti Academy will host a three-day state-level child art exhibition in the Capital commencing on November 14 coinciding with the celebration of the Children’s Day.

Gallery director Tarakant Parida and academy chairperson Kedar Mishra informed that the event being launched this year would be made an annual affair.

The exhibition would attempt to discover and encourage budding artists of the State. The thrust would be on showcasing talents from the rural regions and small towns where such events are hardly being held.

While school students of the State would be eligible to participate in the exhibition, each participant would be allowed to submit a maximum number of three works for selection by a jury, explained Tarakant.

Each participant would have one exhibit in the show, he said and added that there would be no participation fee and each participant would be issued a certificate of participation. The student can directly submit the work to the Gallery with a self-declaration that the work belongs to him or her, it was learnt.

“We are developing a database of institutions engaged in imparting art education throughout the State that includes about 90 Sunday Art Schools affiliated to the Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi. We would attempt to reach out to budding talents through these institutions,” said Mishra.

Entries for the exhibitions can be sent to Orissa Modern Art Gallery, 132, Forest Park, Bhubaneswar-751009.
