PUDUCHERRY: A total of 102 fire service personnel were on Friday released from judicial custody after they executed bonds for keeping peace and maintaining good behaviour for a period of six months.

The personnel executed the bonds before the Sub Divisional Magistrate (South) Franklin Laltinkhuma, who is in-charge for North Division.

The men were arrested on Thursday for taking out a procession wearing uniform to demand parity in salary with policemen. They were taken into preventive custody under Section 107 and 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

They were remanded to Central Prison at Kalapet after they refused to execute the bond. After being in the jail for a night, on Friday morning through a lawyer informed the SDM about their change in stand.
