PUDUCHERRY: Three days of music and Freedom Jam, the sixth annual Pondy Music Festival, is all set to rock Puducherry. Starting with a bang on Saturday, the musical fiesta will go on till January 26 at venues along the Beach Road.

Opening with contemporary cutting edge alternative acoustic jams at Seagulls Restaurant, the event had classic rock, blues, jazz and much more on the first day.

The bands to perform as part of the event are Bangalore’s Ministry of Blues, Jazz saxophonist Matt Littlewood Trio, Campus Rock idol winners Nerverek, East Veli St. from Madurai, Chennai’s Buzz Street - Black Dogs, Puducherry’s Parkers and many more. The beach and Le Café would offer pop, fusion and classical music. The entire beach front will turn into a musical promenade over the weekend culminating with a morning raga session at sunrise on the Republic Day near the Gandhi statue, said a press release.

For classical music lovers, there is Debi Prasad on the sarod accompanied by Manosh Bardhan on tabla on Sunday evening at Le Café.

The fusion section would feature Vedanth Bharadwaj who specialises in rendering Kabir bhajans and Sufi music in a modern context, while world music would have new age Eurofolk jammers Micheal Sorenstein and Boris, added the release.
