Alert in Uttarakhand

DEHRA DUN: A high alert has been sounded in Uttarakhand following an increased threat perception from terror groups.

A Pakistan national allegedly working for its military intelligence has been arrested in the Gang Nehar police station area near Roorkee by the Special Task Force.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that he had secured a passport in Meerut under a Hindu name.

The police have identified him as Ashraf.

“Joint interrogation is in progress and we cannot divulge much more at present,” said a senior police officer here on Monday.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has urged the people to celebrate Republic Day with enthusiasm.

“We are a nation of valiant soldiers and all unholy attempts by terror groups will be thwarted at all cost,” he said on the eve of Republic Day.

The Governor, Margaret Alva, in a separate message wished all happiness, success, peace and prosperity to the people of the State.
