Vasundhara for more industries

JAIPUR DEC. 24. The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, has underlined the need for setting up the maximum number of small-scale industries under different schemes in the State to generate more employment opportunities and called for effective measures for industrial growth and development of entrepreneurship.

Evincing keen interest in the presentation of the State's industrial scenario at a meeting of the Industries Department here on Tuesday, Ms. Raje directed that the "single window scheme'' launched by the previous Congress regime be strengthened to help the entrepreneurs set up more industries.

She felt that procedural reforms would be needed to solve the entrepreneurs' problems relating to the labour and environmental laws.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the significance of establishing coordination with the banks, saying that it would help provide credit facilities to the industrialists easily. She said the loans to the small traders should be made available at low interest rates.

Calling for generation of more resources in the Khadi and village industries sectors, Ms. Raje said it would help provide more employment to the rural population. She assured that optimum benefits from the Central Government's various schemes would be availed by the State.

Ms. Raje praised the works of the Indian Institute of Craft and Design and said the institute would be expanded. She instructed the Industries Department to explore the scope for establishing technical institutes in the fields of botanical gardens, gems and jewellery and plastic industry.

While the Industries Minister, Narpat Singh Rajvi, said the problems faced by investors would be solved soon, the Principal Secretary, Industries, T. Srinivasan, made a presentation about the present status of the Industries Departments and various bodies working under it.

Mr. Srinivasan said over a million people were employed in different industries at present and about 90 per cent of them were working in the small-scale industries.

He added that both the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and the Rajasthan Financial Corporation (RFC) would make all efforts to promote industrial activities in the State.
