Transport officials to meet

JAIPUR MARCH 29. Officials of the Transport Departments of the Rajasthan and Haryana Governments will meet in New Delhi tomorrow to discuss the inter-State agreement for plying of each other's buses in the two States.

The meeting will specifically discuss the request made by Rajasthan to waive the tax demanded by Haryana from the Rajasthan Roadways buses with the all India tourist permit which had plied in that State between 1986 and 1990. Rajasthan had not levied any tax on the buses from Haryana during this period.

The Haryana Transport Minister, Ashok Arora, had visited Jaipur this past week and met his counterpart in Rajasthan, Chhogaram Bakolia, to discuss the inter-State agreement. The two Ministers had agreed that both the States would conduct their bus services and manage the routes in accordance with the pact.

An official release said here today that the officials in tomorrow's meeting would also discuss the new routes and the nature of bus services to be introduced there so as to finalise them before April 30.
