Surajkund fair from December 22

CHANDIGARH, NOV. 29. Haryana's anuual trade and industry fair-cum-food festival Surajkund 2004 will get underway from December 22 in Faridabad.

Being organised by the Haryana Trade Fair Authority in collaboration with the State Tourism Department, the nine-day festival will highlight the State's strides and potential in the fields of engineering, automobiles, agro and food processing, consumer goods, healthcare, art and craft, IT, tourism, infrastructure and the services sector.

Trade Fair Authority Additional Chief Administrator M R Anand today said the State had achieved the export target of Rs 16,000 crore during the last financial year.

He said the festival would provide an opportunity to the entrepreneurs to unveil their products and services at the national level and explore the untapped market.

The food festival would be organised by the Haryana Tourism and it would be a blend of regional cuisines and street treats.

Conferences and seminars would be held to discuss issues concerning the entrepreneurs. The fest will include magic and puppet shows, fun rides, skits and short plays for the visitors.

A fashion show, Hindi and Punjabi pop nights, Haryanvi folk songs and ``Hasya Kavi Sammelan'' would be the added attractions at the festival, he said.

There would also be an amusement park for kids besides competitions for school children, Mr Anand added.
