SHO hurt in rioting

NEW DELHI JAN. 28. The Station House Officer of Malviya Nagar was injured when a group of agitated residents of Hauz Rani area resorted to stone pelting after the death of a boy of their village in an accident yesterday evening.

The police said the child, Sonu, was run over by a bus plying on Route No. 354 on Press Enclave Road this afternoon. He was taken to Holy Family Hospital, where the doctors declared him "brought dead''.

Following this, Sonu's family members took his body to their home in Hauz Rani, Malviya Nagar. Agitated at the death of the boy, some of the residents decided to take their ire out on a different bus plying on the same route.

When the SHO, Udaiveer Rathi, rushed to the spot with his staff, the mob attacked them with stones as well. Mr Rathi was hit on the head and was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
