Scams, agitation dominate House proceedings

LUCKNOW, MARCH 17 . Various scams and state government employees' agitation over the demand of dearness allowance merger in their basic pay dominated the proceedings of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad today.

The BJP, which had been insisting on raising the matter of land and other scams in the state since yesterday, raised the issue through an adjournment notice during the zero hour today demanding a CBI inquiry to expose the culprits.

Ramji Singh, Shyam Nandan Singh, Raghav Ram Misra, Sheema Rizvi and Nepal Singh (all BJP) alleged of large-scale irregularities in the ongoing recruitment drive, allotment of prime land as well as the food department saying that only a CBI inquiry could expose those guilty for such acts.

Leader of the House, Ahmed Hasan, while urging the opposition to desist from creating confusion, assured that the government was working in a transparent manner.

Through another adjournment notice, the teachers group members raised the matter of state employees' strike over the demand of dearness allowance merger and asked the government to take immediate action in this regard.

0 Replying for the government, Ahmed Hasan said a cabinet subcommittee has already been constituted for considering the demand of the employees.

Sheema Rizvi of the BJP raised the matter of a recreation park being set up on the land belonging to a graveyard in sector 16 of Noida. The Chairman asked the government to include the case in the high level inquiry ordered in a related case of Noida earlier raised in the house. - PTI
