Rajasthan to honour freedom-fighters

JAIPUR MARCH 29. The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, will release seven books published by the State Golden Jubilee Publications Committee here tomorrow on the occasion of the Rajasthan Day.

The books will be released at a function to be organised at Jainiwas Garden here tomorrow evening. The convenor of the Committee and senior Congress(I) leader, Nawal Kishore Sharma, said monographs on half a dozen freedom-fighters of the State would also be released.

Among the seven books, the notable one is "Riyasati Rajputana Se Jantantrik Rajasthan: Katipay Etihasik Dastawez''. Edited by the former Director of Public Relations, K.L. Kochar, it provides a detailed account of the princely States of erstwhile Rajputana and emergence of modern Rajasthan.

The official sources said here today that the book had a compilation of important documents of the period from 1932 to 1952 -- when significant changes took place in the State enabling democracy to take roots in the feudal social milieu. It also discusses the role played by the rulers of the princely States in the freedom struggle.

The freedom-fighters of Rajasthan whose monologues will be released along with the release of books are Arjunlal Sethi, Gauri Shankar Upadhyay, Motilal Tejawat, Badrinarain Khora, Chandragupta Varshneya and Ramesh Chandra Vyas.
