Nod for six-lane National Highway

The Union Cabinet's Committee on infrastructure on Thursday gave its approval for Rs.6013.70-crore six-laning of the Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad section of the National Highway. Of the total cost, Rs.626.40 crore will be spent on land acquisition, rehabilitation and reconstruction purposes.

The project will be carried out on Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer basis in Build-Operate-Transfer mode of delivery.

The works will be carried out on National Highways 79A, 79, 76 and 8 in Rajasthan and Gujarat under the National Highways Development Project Phase-V. When completed, the widened highway will reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic plying between Kishangarh and Ahmedabad which will connect Vadodara, Mumbai and Delhi. It will also increase the employment potential for local labourers for the project activities and develop tourism besides boosting economic activities in the two States.
