Nemi Chand Jain dead

NEW DELHI, MARCH 24. Nemi Chand Jain, the noted writer and theatre personality, died today after suffering a stroke. He was 86.

Mr. Jain, who was conferred "Shalaka Samman" by the Hindi Academy a few days ago, died at his Vikas Marg residence in East Delhi at 10.30 a.m., family sources said.

He was a former Fellow and in charge of the Centre for Cultivation of Arts, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and also served as Assistant Director and Professor at the National School of Drama.

Mr. Jain, a Padma Shri, founded Natrang Prathishtan, an organisation working in the field of theatre, and was also the Editor of the Hindi theatre quarterly "Natrang". - PTI.
