M.P. to link 3 more rivers with Narmada

Buoyed by the successful testing of Narmada-Kshipra Simhasth Link Project, the Madhya Pradesh Government on Sunday announced that rivers Gambhir, Kalisindh and Parvati will be linked with the Narmada.

“Gambhir, Parvati and Kalisindh will be linked with theNarmada and a DPR (detailed project report) is under process in consultation with the officers ,” Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said after inspecting the spot at Ujjaini village, about 30 km away from here, where Narmada and Kshipra were linked successfully.

When asked about the time-frame, Mr. Chouhan said, “There are number of issues which require government clearances. The time-frame will be known only after completion of the DPR.”

The Chief Minister said the Narmada-Kshipra project was inspired by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ambitious river-linking scheme. -PTI
