‘Trinamool-Maoists link proved yet again'

The decision of the Maoist-backed Police Santrash Birodhi Janashadharaner Committee (PSBJC) to provide unconditional support to Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's move to hold a rally on a “neutral platform” in Lalgarh on August 9 only goes to prove, yet again, the links between the latter and the Maoists, said the Chairman of the Left Front Committee, Biman Bose, here on Thursday.

“What we have been repeatedly saying about the activities of the Trinamool Congress and its leader (regarding its links with the Maoists) are being proven true time and again,” he said when asked about PSBJC's support to the proposed rally at Lalgarh.

“While on the one side the State police and the Central forces are engaged in joint operations (against the Maoists), the Trinamool Congress and the PSBJC are jointly subverting peace and democracy, denying people their rights and disrupting normal life in the Jangalmahal region,” said Mr. Bose who is also Secretary of the West Bengal State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Students too were not being able to go to their schools to pursue their studies, he added.

Mr. Bose said one does not have to look too far into the past to see the links between the Trinamool Congress and the Maoists.

A case in point was when, in the aftermath of the derailment of the Jnaneswari Express, whatever Ms. Banerjee had said was discounted in investigations into the incident by both the State's Criminal Investigation Department as well as the Central Bureau of Investigation, he pointed out.
