Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has decided to develop Ummedganj pond in Kota as a new bird sanctuary by removing encroachments, improving the water body's ecology and creating facilities for the winged guests.

The Parliamentary Secretary in charge of Information and Public Relations Department, Bhawani Singh Rajawat, visited the pond recently and deliberated with the officials on the measures to improve the environment of the wetland measuring 600 bighas. He said the expert advice on the project would be sought from ornithologists.

A large number of birds inhabit the pond and plenty of others regularly visit the marsh.
