Garden Festival begins tomorrow

NEW DELHI, FEB. 26. The Delhi Development Authority will organise its two-day 20th Annual Garden Festival and Flower Show at the Millennium Park on Ring Road here on Saturday and Sunday.

With the theme of "Environment Friendly Delhi'', the show will witness participation by several organisations such as Municipal Corporation of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council besides private nurseries and DDA. During the show, information about varieties of flowers, foliage plants and cactus will also be disseminated among the visitors.

The Flower Show, DDA said, is for educating the younger generation about the importance of preserving their greens and on how different forms and combinations of flowers can be used for decorating houses.

The show is being organised in 18 classes. The various categories of competition are: flower arrangement of pots, seasonal pot, plants display, hanging baskets, perennial and bulbous plants, dahlias, foliage plants, exhibition of foliage plants, bougainvilleas, cacti and other succulents, bonsai, garden in container, cut flowers, gladioli, roses, decorated stalls, flower arrangement and "mali'' class of flower arrangement. At the show, stalls for sale of garden equipment and plants will be set up.
