Gangster arrested

NEW DELHI AUG. 10. An alleged member of Shakil Pehalwan gang, who had escaped from the custody of the Uttar Pradesh police last year, was arrested at Viswas Nagar by the Special Staff of East Delhi on Saturday. A countrymade firearm and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off that Ibrahim, a member of Shakil Pehalwan had come to Vishwas Nagar, the Special Staff mounted a raid and arrested him. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in several heinous cases.

Ibrahim and his accomplices were arrested after an encounter with the U.P. police, in which the gang head, Shakil, carrying a reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head, was killed. However, Ibrahim managed to give the police the slip while he was being taken to a Lucknow hospital from Haldwani Jail.

Man found dead

A man was found dead in his house at New Friends Colony in South Delhi today.

Around 11-30 a.m., the police received a call that Mohammad Sadiq, a fruit-seller, was found dead on the terrace of his house. His body has been sent for post-mortem at All-India Institute of Medical Sciences.

In another case, the body of an unidentified woman was found dumped near a railway shade at Badarpur in South Delhi today. A case of murder has been registered and investigations are on.
