Four arrested in paper leak case

FARIDKOT: Punjab police today claimed to have apprehended four more persons for their alleged involvement in leak of Pre Medical Entrance Test (PMT) paper, taking the total number of persons arrested in this case to seven.

District police chief M F Farooqui said that police arrested Balwinder Singh of Mahabadar village in Muktsar district who is running a coaching center at Muktsar, whom Buta Ram a peon of the Baba Faridkot University of Health Sciences sold leaked paper and police also recovered sum of Rs 1,30,000 which he had collected after he had sold it of Rs 2 lakh.

Police also arrested Kamaljit Singh of Ferozepur, a student to whom Buta Ram sold the paper for Rs 30,000. Besides, police also netted Dr Vinod Khanna of Ferozepur whom Rakesh Kumar had sold paper for Rs 30,000. The fourth accused police nabbed was Nand Kishore a class four employee of the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital to whom Rakesh Kumar driver sold the paper for Rs 45,000 and whose daughter appeared in teh exam but could not clear.

The SSP said investigation revealed that Balwinder Singh of Muktsar allegedly sold copy of the paper to a doctor in DMC Ludhiana for Rs two lakh out of which police recovered Rs 1.30 lakh. Three persons including Buta Ram a peon, Rakesh Kumar driver and RameshKumar a binder of the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot were arrested yesterday.
