Charge against Digvijay reiterated

BHOPAL OCT. 26 . The general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, today went on a counter offensive against the Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, saying that he owed an explanation to the people regarding his "special relationship'' with the Indore businessman, Subhash Gupta, whose premises were raided by the IT authorities earlier this month.

At a Press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Singh had brushed aside the BJP chief ministerial candidate, Uma Bharti's allegation that the Chief Minister had earlier been to London along with Mr. Gupta, the Indore businessman. The Chief Minister had made light of Ms. Bharti's accusation saying that Mr. Gupta had never accompanied him abroad. He had referred to Mr. Gupta's rejoinder in the same context asserting that on the particular day in question, he was at Tirupati and not in London. At a Press conference here today, Mr. Chauhan once again focussed attention on the same issue and sought the Chief Minister's explanation on his "relationship'' with the Indore businessman.
