NEW DELHI: The New Delhi police have registered a case of criminal confinement, intimidation and assault against the head of the Orthopaedics Department of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here on allegations made by an intern that he tried to sexually harass him at his Chanakyapuri residence on Monday. The accused has not been arrested so far. On Friday night, the police registered a case after receiving a formal statement from the victim.

However, it is learnt that the victim has not been able to provide the evidence to substantiate his allegations. When the police inquired from him about the clothes he was wearing when the alleged incident took place, he purportedly claimed that he had washed them. The police on Saturday said though they had registered a case, they would arrest the accused only when there is evidence establishing that he had indeed tried to sexually assault the intern.
