Green signal for high capacity bus

NEW DELHI AUG. 14. The Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) of the Delhi Government has cleared the high capacity bus project from Ambedkar Nagar to Moolchand Hospital besides the construction of a 500-bed multi-speciality hospital at Dwarka.

The EFC meeting held on Friday and chaired by the Delhi Finance Minister, A.K. Walia, cleared various projects worth Rs.189. 66 crores.

Dr. Walia said the high capacity bus would help reduce congestion and pollution. The six-kilometre stretch between Ambedkar Nagar to Moolchand would be completed in ten months, he added.

Birth cenetenary

NEW DELHI AUG. 14. The Sir Aurobindo Ashram branch of Mother's International School organised a special function on Friday to mark the birth centenary of its founder, Surendra Nath Jauhar `Faquir'. The chairman of the Surendra Nath Jauhar `Faquir' Centenary Celebration Committee, L.M. Singhvi, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The celebration began with a special assembly. A video-cassette disc titled "Ek Mashaal, Ek Misaal" on the founder's life and work and a set of books written by him were released. An exhibition on the life and message of the founder was also inaugurated.

Founder's day celebrated

NEW DELHI AUG. 14. Sachdeva Public School at Pitampura celebrated its founder's day with great zeal and enthusiasm on Friday. On the occasion, the students sang "Vande Matram" and presented other cultural items.

The chairman of Sachdeva Public School, S.K. Sachdeva, asked the students to excel not only in academics but also in sports and cultural activities.

Special I-Day for street children

NEW DELHI AUG. 14. To bridge the bitterness between the Delhi police and street children, CHETNA (Childhood Enhancement Through Training and Action) and CRY (Child Relief You) have made arrangements for street children to celebrate Independence Day with the police at two police stations in the Capital on Sunday. According to a Press release by CHETNA, the children would join the policemen in hoisting the national Tricolour on Independence Day at the police stations in Sarojini Nagar and Defence Colony.

NEW DELHI AUG. 14. Vidya Bhawan Mahavidyalaya Senior Secondary School and Progress Public School jointly organised an Independence Day programme on Thursday. The Congress MLA, Tajdar Babar, inaugurated the programme by hoisting the national flag. After this, the students presented a march past and cultural programme.

The founder of both the schools, Pushpa Devi, addressed the guests and the students and paid homage to freedom fighters.
