DUSU career fair

NEW DELHI: A three-day career fair, "Edupath--2005'', organised by the Delhi University Students' Union at Law Faculty will end on Sunday. The fair is aimed at helping students seeking admission to various undergraduate courses in Delhi University.

Experts in the field of hotel management, fashion designing and engineers are guiding students. The students are also being informed of the new courses being offered by Delhi University.

JNU seminar

NEW DELHI: A national seminar on "Environmental Issues: Itinerary of Time'' is being organised at the Auditorium of Schools of Arts and Aesthetics at Jawaharlal Nehru University here this Sunday to mark "World Environment Day''. The seminar has been jointly organised by the Green Institute for Research and Development and the Human Touch in collaboration with the School of Environmental Sciences of Jawaharlal Nehru University. Former Prime Minister I. K. Gujral is slated to inaugurate the seminar and the keynote speaker will be D. S. Bhargava, retired professor of Roorkee University.

New bank chief

NEW DELHI: V. A. Joseph has taken over as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the South Indian Bank. Before joining the South Indian Bank as Executive Director in 2003, he had held various positions in the Syndicate Bank for 31 years. The South Indian Bank has 432 branches and 52 extension counters in 17 States and Union Territories.

IMI tie-up

NEW DELHI: The International Management Institute has entered an arrangement with Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, whereby after completing the Post Graduate Programme in International Management (PGPIM) at IMI, students will now have the option of earning an MBA (International Business) degree at Flinders University at a highly accelerated pace through credit transfer for courses done at IMI.

"The willingness of Flinders University for the credit transfer arrangement is recognition of the quality of IMI's restructured PGPIM and its relevance in the international business education arena," said C. S. Venkata Ratnam, Director IMI.

This Union Human Resource Development Ministry-approved 11-month transformational programme is designed to enable executives with work experience to take up globally-oriented management positions.

Passes away

NEW DELHI: Sukhanand Kumar Jain, a retired civilian staff officer in the Defence Ministry, passed away on Friday after a brief illness. He was 82. He was cremated in the Capital in the presence of a large number of family members, relatives and friends. He is survived by four sons.
