NEW DELHI: Holding the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh Government directly responsible for the terrorist attack on the Ram Janmbhoomi premises at Ayodhya, the Delhi BJP president, Harsh Vardhan, on Tuesday demanded resignation of the Union Home Minister, Shiv Raj Patil and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav and announced that the party unit would hold a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar here on Wednesday to express its anger over the incident.

Stating that the decision on the demonstration was taken at a meeting of the BJP pradesh office-bearers, district presidents and the presidents of the morchas and cells, Dr. Vardhan charged that while the Central Government and the Uttar Pradesh Government were continuously receiving secret information that Ayodhya was high on the hit list of terrorists, still not enough steps were taken which allowed them to reach close to the sanctum sanctorum there.

When the "fidayeen'' squads of terrorists can break the security of a place like the high-security, Ram Janmbhoomi premises, then they can go to any extent, he said.

The BJP leaders also commended the Central Reserve Police Force personnel for killing the terrorists, who had entered Ayodhya with deadly explosives and arms and without any resistance in a jeep. Stating that senior officers of Ayodhya and Faizabad administration, who were responsible for the negligence, should be punished, he demanded foolproof security for all the Hindu religious places and centres. He also demanded that the Central Government supervise the entire security arrangement of Ayodhya.
