Woman found murdered

NEW DELHI APRIL 24 . A 30-year-old woman was found murdered under highly mysterious circumstances in her house at Uttam Nagar in West Delhi on Friday night.

According to the police, the incident came to light when neighbours complained of foul smell emanating from the house of Jitender, a resident of Chanakya Place in Uttam Nagar. When the police broke into the house, they found the body of Jitender's wife, Rachna Raj alias Deepa. Her throat had been slit with a sharp-edged weapon.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Jitender, who had come along with his wife in the rented accommodation about four months ago, did not stay with his wife regularly and used to visit the house once in a while. The neighbours had last seen Rachna alive on April 21. The police are trying to trace Jitender.

A case of murder has been registered at the Uttam Nagar police station and further investigations in the case are on.

SHO suspended

NEW DELHI APRIL 24. The Station House Officer of the Hauz Khas police station in South Delhi, Rajender Bakshi, who was facing a vigilance inquiry in connection with the alleged spat with the district Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vivek Gogia, has been suspended.

On April 19, Bakshi created sensation by announcing his resignation on the wireless citing misbehaviour on the part of Dr. Gogia.

The SHO and the DCP were allegedly involved in the spat after Bakshi told the Delhi police standing counsel, Mukta Gupta, that Dr. Gogia was not signing on a status report in connection with a complaint.
