Vendors make most of it on D-day

New Delhi: It was not only the Congress which had the last laugh after the poll results, road-side vendors also had a field day who did profitable business outside the political party offices catering to the large posse of policemen, media personnel and party workers.

Food and beverage sellers outside 10 Janpath, 24 Akbar Road, CPI(M) headquarters at Gole Market, L.K. Advani’s residence at Prithvi Raj Road and various other places did brisk business as large number of people were present there.

“It proved lucky for me to have set my stall here this time. We are doing good business because so many people have gathered here since morning. We came with good stock of snacks and soft-drinks which were all sold out," said Prakash, a vendor outside the Congress headquarters at 24 Akbar road.

For a cucumber seller Sonu, who was surrounded by customers outside Congress candidate Ajay Maken’s residence, it was the day of highest earning in this summer.

“My basket has now become empty. I have sold two baskets of cucumber through the day and we expect more sale with such a huge gathering,” he said. — PTI
