University faculty working without pay

The faculty of Uttar Pradesh's oldest research institute Chandra Shekhar Azad University for Agriculture is working without pay for the last two months.

“It is true that for the last two months, the professors, scientists and other staff are working without pay. The university is facing a fund crunch,” Prof Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor, CSA Agriculture University said. Explaining the reason, he said the State Government has freezed the yearly grant to the university since 1998 and that the money being received from the Central Government's Indian Council of Agriculture Research is “insufficient”.
