Thyagaraja Music Festival begins tomorrow

NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan will inaugurate the five-day Thyagaraja Music Festival being organised by Sree Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha in association with Resident Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh at Ambedkar Auditorium here beginning this Friday.

The Governor will also present the Sabha awards to eminent artistes. This year's awardees are: Natya Ratna: Shanta and V. P. Dhananjayan; Nada Bhushanum: Ranjani, Gayathri and O. S. Arun; and Nataka Ratnum: Y .G. Mahendran.

The inauguration will be followed by vocal music concert by S. Sowmya and party. On February 27, O. S. Arun and party will give a Carnatic vocal music concert at 4-30 p.m. and T.M. Krishna and party will perform at 6-30 p.m. On February 28, Varalakshmi Anandakumar and party will give a vocal concert at 4-30 p.m. and Ranjani and Gayathri at 6-15 p.m. On March 1, Malladi Brothers will give vocal music concert and on March 2, Sudha Raghunathan will give a concert.
