Najeeb’s mother, JNU students booked in UP

The Uttar Pradesh Police have booked Fatima Nafees, the mother of Najeeb Ahmad, and several JNU students for “violating” Section 144 while taking out a march on Wednesday in Badaun without proper permission.

The students of JNU along with Najeeb’s family were participating in “Insaaf March” in Badaun, demanding that the missing student be located and justice be done to him and his family.

‘No permission taken’

The Kotwali police station of Badaun booked Ms. Nafees, JNUSU president Mohit Pandey and 150 others for violating Section 144, which is in force in view of the upcoming Assembly polls.

“These people had organised a march without taking proper permission from the authorities. A case has been filed against them for violating Section 144,”said Lokendra Pal Singh, the Inspector of Kotwali police station.

Ms. Nafees had written to the Delhi Police last month complaining about the “inhuman raids” on the houses of Najeeb’s relatives in Badaun.

Najeeb, who belongs to Vaidotola locality in Badaun, was pursuing MSc (Biotechnology) at JNU before he allegedly went missing from the campus a day after a scuffle with some ABVP members.
