Industry must play active role: Hooda

NEW DELHI: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday invited India Inc. to join the State as a partner in its transformation into the country's No. 1 economically progressive State in the next three years.

Addressing the State's industry leaders at the CII Haryana State Council Annual Session and Conference here on "Making Haryana the No.1 State of

India", Mr. Hooda said that to achieve this objective there was need for a joint effort by the industry and the State Government.

"Even as the Government is committed to providing good quality infrastructure, the private sector also needs to play a partnership role so as to sustain the economic growth."

He said the Government was committed to providing a good quality of life to the residents of Haryana and therefore the State, with an annual budget of Rs.5300 crore for 2007-08, had allocated Rs.1963 crore for social sector programmes.

This allocation includes Rs.730 crore for education including industrial training and technical education.
